Professional install runbook

Some website builders will not let you add a DNS record or a path rule yourself. On those platforms we do the install. This is the procedure we follow, published so you can read it before you agree to it.

What changes on your site: none. we work alongside your site, never inside it. We add one new name alongside your domain. We do not move your website, we do not touch your email records, and we do not change a single page.

1. Before we touch anything

  • You give read-only access to the platform's DNS or settings screen — never your email account.
  • We record the current DNS records in full, including MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC, and save that record with you.
  • We confirm in writing which records we will add, and that we will change or remove none of them.
  • We agree a rollback: removing the one record we added returns the domain to exactly its current state.

2. The install

  • We add one CNAME record for the agents subdomain, pointing at delivery.honeyvectors.com.
  • Where the platform allows it, we add a path rule for the agent files instead, kept below every existing rule.
  • We publish the registration file at /.well-known/honeyvectors.json so the connection can be verified independently.
  • We add the assistant snippet only if you asked for the assistant.

3. Verification, the same day

  • We re-read every DNS record and compare it against the record taken in step one; any difference is reported, even ours.
  • We send a test message to and from your domain to confirm mail flow is unchanged.
  • We fetch the agent files through your own domain and confirm what a crawler sees.
  • We check your homepage renders identically, before and after.

4. Hand-back

  • You get a written record: every record added, every check run, and the result of each.
  • You approve before delivery is switched on.
  • If you ever want it removed, we remove the records we added and confirm the domain matches the original record.

If anything goes wrong

Every step is reversible by deleting records we added. Because we never edit an existing record, there is nothing of yours to restore. If a check fails at any point we stop, revert what we added, and tell you what we found.
